Product Description

Large, Rare Blue Rose of Sharon Flowers

• Large, beautiful blue flowers with a purple/red throat and a white center
• Looks great potted up near entryways, on your patio, or planted near corners of your home
• Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees to your garden!

A Rare Color in Landscaping
Every landscape plan welcomes the color blue, but blue rarely occurs in nature. The Azurri Blue Satin® Rose of Sharon Althea Tree brings limitless new color combinations to the landscape palette. Not only is this wonderful shrub gorgeous, but it is also simple to grow and maintain.

Looks Great Anywhere
The Azurri Blue Satin® Rose of Sharon Althea Tree is easy to grow in all soils, including clay. Though it prefers moderate moisture, it is drought tolerant. If you don't appreciate deer nibbling away at your garden, the Azurri Blue Satin® is deer resistant.

Tough Trees that can Take a Beating
These trees can tolerate wide temperature swings. We have seen it beautifully over-winter in Zone 5 climates where the temperatures can drop to -10 F or lower. For all its beauty, the Azurri Blue Satin® Rose of Sharon Althea Tree does not really suffer from the usual problems with insects or other diseases.

A Few Maintenance Tips
The Azurri Blue Satin® is a sun lover. It will tolerate part shade but its blooms really express themselves in the sunshine. It blooms on country estates or on city streets. If you really love an explosion of huge flowers, here's a trick: in late winter to early spring, if you prune the tree to give it shape when the spring growth comes the new shoots will be rich with buds. If you limit each new shoot to just a few buds (by cutting or pinching off the others), larger blooms will result. It makes for a true conversation piece.
