Micron® Holly Shrub Ilex vomitoria 'Gremicr'

Product Description

Versatility and Resistance to Tough Conditions in a Dwarf Evergreen

With the Micron® Holly Shrub, you get everything you love in a classic holly plus a more compact package. So now, you can plant it almost anywhere. Imagine the promise of year-round evergreen foliage, from tight areas to distinctive moundings near entryways.

Even better? The Micron®’s unique, diminutive leaves stand out. Though it’s made to dress up even the smallest spaces, you’ll have a dazzling show anywhere. And it’s both deer resistant and drought tolerant, so there’s no fuss – making it ideal for beginners or experts. Because it actually contains caffeine (yes, seriously!), it's immune to temperature extremes, as well as pests and diseases.

But the best part is that our Micron® Holly is consistent, year after year. That’s because we’ve planted, monitored and shipped your Micron® with care. Since we’ve put in the hard work, it’s ready to grow once it arrives at your door.

So, whether you plant it as edging, along fences and walls or even in a container. If you have no space, it’s no problem when it comes to the Micron. Order your Micron® Holly Shrub for any area, big or small!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Start by selecting a location with well-drained soil and 4 to 8 hours of sunlight per day. After selecting your area, dig a hole that’s approximately one and a half times the width of your shrub’s root ball. Place the shrub before back filling the soil and watering to settle its roots. Mulching after planting is beneficial to preserve your Holly’s moisture.

2. Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season, about once per week or whenever your evergreen’s surrounding soil is dry. To check for soil dryness, simply use your finger to check the dirt about 2 to 3 inches down. If the soil is dry here, it’s time to water. Once your plant is established, watering frequency may be reduced, depending on your soil’s needs.

3. Fertilizing: Feed your Holly in early spring and again in early fall with an all-purpose fertilizer or an evergreen-specific formula.

4. Pruning: Prune your Holly as needed for your desired shape.

Pollination Info

Micron® Holly Shrub Pollination

We carry male and female hollies at our nursery, and you will need both to produce berries on the female plant. However, hollies are hard to tell apart when they are not fruiting, and we can’t guarantee whether you will receive a male or female. For best results, we suggest planting in groups to enjoy berries on the female plants and lush greenery on both year-round.
