Enormous and Plump Peaches

The enormous fruits from the Majestic Peach tree are nearly a meal in themselves. The classic peachy-orange summer staple with its juicy yellow interior is borne on a sturdy, disease-resistant tree. It is well deserving of its name.

The Majestic Peach is a freestone peach with deep yellow flesh that is known for its sweetness. That means it's easier to get the stone (or pit) out of the center of this fruit than the clingstone varieties. A Majestic Peach is noticeably larger than many of its rivals.

Considering the size of the fruit, the tree itself is no giant. Like many peach trees, Majestic is somewhat petite with a mature height of about 10 to 12 feet. It spreads to about 5 to 10 feet. This moderate size is just right for a home orchard with plenty of sunlight.

Since the Majestic is a truly self-pollinating tree, you'll only need one to get a harvest. (In fact, you may have to prune it to limit production.) Many gardeners plant in multiples simply because the tree is so lovely in bloom. The clouds of pink and white bloom appear in the early spring and cover the branches.

This pretty tree is tougher than it looks. It will tolerate sandy soil as well as those with some clay and it resists disease. It can survive mild drought conditions as well, though fruiting won't be as heavy.

An all-around great performer, the Majestic Peach is a wise choice for your home orchard.
