The Most Colorful Clematis
The Nelly Moser is the most popular clematis vine because...• multi-colored, large flowers
• abundance of blooms- considered a heavy bloomer
• extreme resistance to disease and pests
• looks great anywhere
If you want a vine to cover a fence or trellis that is lovely to look at, easy to grow and not on the deer's favorite list then you need Nelly Moser Clematis! This charming white and pink flowering vine fits into any landscape design from zones 4 all the way south to the zone 8.
Nelly Moser Clematis enjoys full sun but can tolerate some afternoon shade where it can brighten up a shady corner on warm afternoons. Plant the vine in well drained soil close to a fence or other structure that you want it to climb on. The vine will grow steadily throughout the year, producing a flush of large white flowers that are tinted with bright pink every spring.
The flowers last several weeks and in many areas Nelly Moser will put out more blooms for a fall show, too. The vine can quickly reach over 10 feet in length, so having the support ready before you plant it is important.
The spring blooms are produced on last year's growth stems, so do not prune your Nelly Moser in late winter but wait until it has finished blooming in May or June. The second, late season blooms are borne on newly produced wood. The good news is that although you can prune this vine each year, it really does not need it unless it is growing in the wrong direction.
Nelly Moser Clematis works well as a back drop to late spring daffodils, tulips or peonies as well as along a fence at the side of the property. If your landscape does not have a fence, try letting the clematis climb up an ornamental obelisk or even through a conifer where the dark needles contrast with the delicate white flowers. Try planting 2 Nelly Moser Clematis '– one on either side of an archway to give a lovely entrance to a garden area; or behind a favorite place to sit and relax on mild spring afternoons.
After the bloom has faded, there is an interesting seed head produced which allows another few weeks of interest on the vine.
Keep the roots of the Nelly Moser clematis cool during hot summers by planting colorful annuals at the base of the vine and she will reward you with years of enjoyment.

Perfection!!!!
My 3 Nelly Moser clematis vines arrived in perfect condition. They were packaged beautifully... secured in a paper wrapping with the pots in a plastic bag that were zip-tied so that the potting medium stayed in place. The vines were also staked to ensure safe transport. All in all I was very impressed with the care that Brighter Blooms took to deliver a great product.
