The Best Grapevine for Wines!

The Carlos Scuppernong grape is that rare vine that is both high in looks and bounty.
If you’re into wine production, there are numerous reason to get Carlos…
  • Heavy yields
  • Self-fertile
  • Top producing wine grape in North Carolina
  • Low maintenance
  • Cold hardy
  • Seasonal beauty
The Carlos will add a flourish to your edible landscape design. The glossy green leaves are complemented by metallic bronze fruits when ripe. But the looks are no match for the taste. Carlos is highly sought after for its choice edibility in wines, juices, and jellies. In fact, 90 percent of all muscadine grapes produced in North Carolina are of the Carlos variety!
Picking Time
By mid-season, the fruits will turn a uniform bronze which means it’s time to get your plucking hands and basket ready. In optimal growing conditions, the Carlos can produce 100 pounds of fruit on a single vine! If you’re not ready to make wine immediately, you can store the grapes for up to three weeks in the fridge. Plus, the Carlos Scuppernong is rich in antioxidants, and it contains Resveratrol, which is widely known to be health-promoting. And, they’re delicious right off the vine with a rich sweet tartness.
Minimal Maintenance
The beauty of Carlos is that it's one of the few muscadine varieties that is self-pollinating. Better yet, it’s perhaps the least fussy of all grapevines. Pests and disease are a non-factor, which makes it a prime candidate for no sprays. It can handle drought, intense sun, and cold with ease. Fertilize several times a year with a well-balanced organic fertilizer, and make sure the soil is fairly moist and well-drained. That’s it!

Get your Carlos Scuppernong grapevine today. Your dreams of fresh wine and juice are just around the corner!

Easy Care/ plant Experts need work

My first time growing Scuppernongs! My grandmother use to have them in her yard and wanted to create the feeling of “ being home at Grandmas”. I called before ordering to get information from experts and wasn’t really successful. I wanted to know; what type of planter /container the plant was coming in, type/size of trellis to purchase and care for plant. Expert stated not much experience with Scuppernong and that the plant would come in a 2 gallon container and no trellis or bamboo stake, it would indicate that in description. I was still confused was it a container filled with soil and buds or planter. My end goal was to prepare to receive the plant before it landed on my doorstep. Solution; i just turned to YouTube and learned about the types and container vs in ground. It was disappointing to hear lack of information but nonetheless i love the plant and excited to watch it grow and produce. FYI- the scuppernong comes in a 2 gallon planter with a bamboo stake to stabilize vines and have them grow upright and then finally out horizontally, “T” formation. It’s growing like crazy only after a month.

Brighter Blooms Plant ExpertWe are so sorry for the lack of support you received when calling in! We'll look into this further but so glad your plant is awesome!
