Crimson Flowers Add Color Year After Year!
The Karl Rosenfield Peony has been a staple in gardens for over 100 years, and for good reason! It's crimson red, dense-petaled blossoms add unmatched brilliance to any landscape.
Larger than many other peonies, the Karl Rosenfield is a double peony, meaning it has more petals than average growing from its crown. Each eye-catching flower blooms for 7-10 days, starting out as small buds and opening into expansive, lush blossoms. With its bright green stem and leaves, these cut peonies also add sophistication to any room.
Gardeners choose this clustered peony for many reasons. Some use it as a focal point, while others plant it in a group with other peonies. This late spring to early summer bloomer can be planted alongside peonies that flower at other periods, promising more than a month of summertime color!
Others plant the Karl Rosenfield along borders or walkways because it's anything but finicky. Instead, this low-maintenance grower resists disease and most animals, except butterflies, which flock to it in droves!
For truly unparalleled color, add the Karl Rosenfield Peony to your landscaping today!
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant where it can receive full sun, although some partial shade is tolerated in the south and warmest areas of the west. Plant so that the buds at the top of the roots are pointing up. Cover with 1-2 inches of soil if you’re in the north, no more than one inch if you’re in the south.
2. Watering: Ensure moderate moisture and well-draining soil, about an inch of water per week throughout the growing season.
3. Fertilizing: An annual side-dressing of one inch of compost or aged manure will help this plant’s growth. No other fertilization is needed.
4. Pruning: Deadhead after flowering and cut back to the ground in winter after the first frost to encourage energy for next year.
