Ideal Waterside Perennial With Deep Violet Blooms

Made famous by Vincent van Gogh's series of paintings, the iconic iris plant has captivated garden lovers for centuries. This unique variety, called the Caesar’s Brother Siberian Iris, adds drama, beauty, and enchanting dimension to any outdoor space.

Distinct for its dense, clump-like form, the Caesar's Brother features gorgeous foliage that stays upright and green throughout the season. And in the spring, you'll enjoy its velvety purple flowers for up to two weeks.

Growing up to 4 feet, the Siberian Iris adds vertical interest to any landscape design. Strong and adaptable, this spring bloomer does best near water features, along hillsides, bordering paths, and especially in rain gardens. It even works as a natural filter for runoff stormwater to keep nearby ponds and streams clean.

The Caesar's Brother Iris dazzles when planted en masse, and—when placed in well-draining, moist soil with plenty of sunlight—it requires little maintenance.

Caesar’s Brother Siberian Irises blend perfectly with any landscape aesthetic but flows particularly well in Zen and contemporary spaces.

Grab this water-loving perennial before it's gone!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: For the best growth, plant your Caesar's Brother in a full sun location. Partial sun can work for this flower if you live in a warmer climate. Regardless of growing zone, make sure that you place it in a spot with moist, but well-draining, normal-to-acidic soil.

Consider mixing peat with the soil when planting. Then, each year you can also add 1-2 inches of mulch to retain the soil's moisture.

2. Watering: These irises prefer water (pondside feature, anyone?), so make sure to water as needed to keep the soil moist—especially if you choose to plant it in a pot.

3. Fertilizing: To help this plant grow to its optimal height and health, fertilize their pots or beds in early spring and again just after bloom.

4. Pruning: Your iris will die back naturally, so it requires no pruning. However, in the winter you may choose to cut down the stems (about 2 inches from the soil) for a cleaner look.
